Mr. Akwesi Agyeman, Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority, has urged Restaurant Operators in the Country to adopt Food Delivery Services in this crisis period as Novel COVID-19 keeps spreading Worldwide.
He charged them to avoid hosting crowd in this period and emphasized on the need for social distancing to avert the spread of the deadly disease.
Mr. Akwesi Agyeman, at a press briefing in Accra on Sunday in Accra as part of Kumasi, Kasoa, Tema and Accra are Restricted for two weeks over the outbreak of Coronavirus.
He said hotels would be allowed to work and service in-house guests adding that the facilities would have to ensure social distancing.
He said a person who trades or owns shops in the food value chain is also exempted and are part of the list of exemptions.
Mr. Agyeman said food sellers at the local level, market women who deal in food items were not prohibited but people would not be allowed to sit and eat at food joints.
Government through the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has ordered the closure of all drinking bars, night clubs, and pubs within cities under partial lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak.
They are to remain closed for two weeks.
The affected cities include Kumasi, Accra, Tema, Kasoa, which means people who love to drink local spirits such as Akepeteshie at drinking bars cannot do so for the time being.
