The Adweso District Police Command has launched a manhunt for two students of New Juaben Senior High School (NUJUSCO) following a machete attack on a final-year science student of Koforidua Senior High Technical School (SECTECH) during an ongoing interschools sports competition.
The victim, Jerome Appiah, was allegedly attacked by a Form Two student of NUJUSCO while eating at an eatery near the stadium where the sports competition is being held. The suspect was reportedly accompanied by an accomplice, and both fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Jerome Appiah sustained a deep machete wound to the shoulder and bled profusely. He was rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital by the police with assistance from a teacher, where he was stabilized and admitted for treatment.
The suspects are currently on the run, and police say efforts are underway to apprehend them.
Confirming the incident, the Headmaster of Koforidua SECTECH, Mr. Emmanuel Bedjabeng Frempong stated that the police are actively investigating the case.
He added that students of the school have been advised to remain calm and avoid any retaliatory actions as security agencies handle the matter.
