Stephen Ntim, the national chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has backed Adwoa Safo’s recent apologies and emphasized that it is an important milestone in her political career.
Ntim emphasized that Adwoa Safo is making the right decision by apologizing as a party member.
“Adwoa Safo’s apology is in order; I really support her objective because she knows the NPP is the only party she belongs to. So, she is doing what is expected of her, I mean the apology and all that,” Chairman Ntim stated.
He did, however, make it clear that it is up to the party delegates and the Dome-Kwabenya people to make the final call on Adwoa Safo’s bid for the parliamentary seat and her future return as a member of parliament.
“If the constituents accept her to be an MP once again despite all that has gone on, I as Chairman and the rest of the party leadership will back her with our spirits to become an MP. So, her fate rests in the hands of Dome-Kwabenya delegates, from polling station to the constituency level,” Chairman Ntim affirmed.
On September 14, Adwoa Safo, the current Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, apologized in front of the whole New Patriotic Party (NPP), particularly the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and other party officials.
She noted that throughout her prolonged absence from Parliament, she was dealing with both personal and familial matters.
After visiting the US, Adwoa Safo was away from her job for more than a year. Some lawmakers demanded that her seat be declared empty once her seat became vacant.
