Ghana legend Rev Osei Kofi has declared his support for Nigeria in the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Despite the Black Stars of Ghana’s participation in the tournament, the 1963 and 1965 AFCON winner has thrown his weight behind the Super Eagles to win the title at the expense of his native country.
The four-time African Champions lost their game on Monday after a disappointing performance resulted in a 1-0 defeat against favourites Morocco.
Sofiane Boufal scored the game’s only goal in the 83rd minute as Morocco claim another win over the Black Stars.
In an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, the former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak star disclosed he is no more a Ghanaian as he switches nationality to Nigeria.
“I am no more a Ghanaian; I have switched nationality to Nigeria. I am supporting them at the AFCON tournament, you could see we won our first game against Egypt and I hope it continues that way” he said.
Black Stars will aim is to secure all three points against Gabon after their stuttering start. This encounter could possibly propel Gabon into the next stage of the competition if they beat Ghana.
However, it’s all or nothing for Ghana as they need a win to stand a chance to qualify to the round 16th stage of the competition.
