Former deputy Sports Minister Joseph Yamin is unsure about the Black Stars qualifying out of the group stages of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana has been paired in Group C against Morocco, Gabon and Comoros.
The Black Stars is among the 24 countries set to battle it out for the covetous trophy in the Central African country.
The four-time African Champions are in search of a fifth AFCON title after last winning it in 1982.
The West Africa powerhouse preparations for AFCON 2021 suffered a jolt on Wednesday night when they got pummeled 3-0 by the North African side.
Speaking to Sylvester Ntim of Koforidua-based Bryt FM, Yamin said, “I believe Ghana’s group C opponents, Morocco, Gabon and Comoros are well organized because they have most of their players playing in their local leagues”
“Though we have players playing in some of the best leagues in the world but that does not make us the best team in the group. I think Ghana is the only country in our group going to the tournament without a formidable team”
“I fear for Ghana qualifying out of the group stages because our opponents have a compact team than us. If we are unable to get a better result against Morocco, it will be difficult for us to progress. Morocco is the strongest team in our group, so playing them in our first game is not easy. Ghana has players but Morocco has a compact team” he said.
Ghana will open their AFCON account against Morocco on Monday, January 10, 2022.
