On Monday, the management of Bunso Eco Park led by the Facility Manager, Mr. Asare Frimpong launched the African Food festival to promote African food and drinks.
Mr. Asare Frimpong noted that they intend to entertain Ghanaians and to unite Africa through food at the upcoming African Food and Drinks festival on 4th December 2021.
He said they would be hosting African Countries like Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Angola, South Africa, Benin, and Togo an event that celebrates African culture through food. The aforesaid countries will set up their local food and drinks during the program.
“For years, we have been passionate about promoting African food and culture, that’s the reason we had to run a festival that puts it in the forefront and again to celebrate farmers for their effort over the years”
“As I said, we’re putting African food at the forefront with this festival so there would be lots of African food & drinks display from carefully selected vendors and display from the finest chefs”
Mr. Asare Frimpong, therefore, called on farmers and Ghanaians to come in their numbers and taste our local food and drinks as they seek to celebrate our farmers.
African Food Festival was created with the sole aim to celebrate African culture through food, it’s a periodical festival that would be done yearly to promote and commemorate black culture with food and drinks from the rich continent of Africa.
Dr. Ashie Kotey, CSIR Bunso, noted that Africa generally is slowly getting more exposure and acknowledgment in the International community and it’s been a long time coming that we get the credits we deserve for contributing immensely to the world and global economies at large.
“African cuisine is also mildly getting attention too but needs more drivers and promotion, for centuries our cuisine has been a major part of our DNA and has kept our forefathers alive, I’ll say without cuisine there won’t be any Africa food is the main ingredient for human survival and functionality” he noted.
“Though we’re making slow progress in getting the recognition we deserve we need more,” he said
