President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Owusu Afriyie Akoto to control activities at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
“Dr Afriyie Akote is expected to “take note of provision 14 (5) which states that “you shall not make a decision involving a policy issue,” a letter signed by Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare indicated.
Dr Afriyie Akoto is also expected to supervise dealings at the Ministry as plans are put in place to get a substantive representative for government in the sector.
According to a letter from the Presidency cited by myjoyonline revealed that “Pending the re-composition and reorganization of government, I am directed by H.E. the President to request that you act as his representative at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture”
This decision is in line with Section 14 (5) of President (Transition) Act, Act 845 (2012) to avoid gaps in the running of the country.
