Former Ghana midfielder Charles Taylor believes Hearts of Oak forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh is more skilful than AS Roma youngster Felix Afena Gyan.
Players who ply their trade in the domestic top-flight struggle to earn call up into the national team in recent times but the latest squad released by Otto Addo for AFCON qualifiers and Kirin Cup had only two players from the Ghana Premier League.
Afriyie Barnieh and Augustine Okrah of Bechem United were the two local players who earned call up.
But the duo were dropped from the squad that travelled to Angolan for the Central Africa Republic clash last Sunday.
Taylor speaking on Angel TV expressed his displeasure about the lack of playing time for local players.
According to him, Afriyie Barnieh is more skilful than Afena Gyan and does not see why he is limited to the bench.
“Afriyie Barnieh is more skilful than Afena Gyan. I would start Barnieh if I were to be the head coach of the Black Stars”
Meanwhile, Barnieh who was dropped from the Black Stars trip to Angola for the Central Africa Republic clash has been recalled for the Kirin Cup in Japan.
