The District Chairman of Tailors and Dressmakers Association of Ghana in the Asunafo South, Mr Osei Awuah Emmanuel, has expressed worry at the low turnout of male youth in skills training when it comes to tailoring and dressmaking.
He stressed that the youth nowadays prefer sitting in ghettos to engaging themselves in skills training.
Speaking to the media at Kukuom at a graduation ceremony, he appealed to all parents, traditional authorities and other opinion leaders to have a critical look at youth.
He emphasised the youth are the future assets of the country and called on all to rally behind their upbringing.
The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon George Yaw Boakye who was the Guest of Honour, also congratulated the graduands for their good effort and also took the opportunity to explain the government’s free TVET education which is to encourage more youth into learning skills.
He pledged the government would do its possible best to ensure the youth are protected and supported to achieve their dreams.
