Aspiring Ahafo Regional Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Prince Kofi Nyantakyi affectionately called Opemsoɔ, has responded to some allegations made by the Omanhene of Goaso Traditional Area, Nana Akwasi Bosompra in the Ahafo Region on illegal logging.
According to Opemsoɔ, the Omanhene is said to have stated that, the government should provide he, (the omanhene) task force to fight the frequent illegal logging in the region.
Opemsoɔ furthered that, the recent brouhaha over the alleged felling of trees illegally in Ahafo Region resulted in an operational team from National Security Agency led by one Emmanuel Cudjoe Ofosu to clamp down on their activities and got about 16 operators arrested but ended up unproductive because there was no such illegality.
He added that all the illegal loggers whose cars got arrested by the National Security Agency in the Region are licensed with legal documents and pay taxes to the government for the development of this country.
In an engagement with the media, the NPP Ahafo Regional Organiser aspirant emphatically revealed that all these are tactics by some opinion leaders to suppress the progress of some individuals in the region and also make the ruling New Patriotic Party unpopular in Ahafo Region.
My intervention restored calm on some organised youths who intended to demonstrate against some opinion leaders in the Region over this issue, “he said”.
