A driver of an unidentified truck carrying timber logs has been crushed to death at Sankore in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo region.
According to one Boampong, an eyewitness, the driver’s mate upon seeing the looming danger jumped off the truck before the accident occurred.
The accident happened at four arm junction that links in-between the Sankore – Kwapong – Kokooso – Abuom.
The eyewitness said, the timber truck loaded with logs driver lost control when he was negotiating the curve.
He continued, after the driver has lose control onlookers also warned him to also jump off but he insisted. When it got to critical condition, he tried to open and jump off but he was trapped and crashed to death instantly by one of the longest logs.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at Goaso Municipal Hospital with the police pending further investigations.
“Although the incident is sad, we are lucky to have minimal casualties. The fatality rate could have been worse if it happened on a Thursday, which is a market day’” the eyewitness said.
