Reports emanating from the Ahafo region indicates the Asunafo South district education directorate is coercing teachers to pay money.
The Asunafo South district is being located in the Ahafo region of Ghana with over one thousand teachers.
According to the teachers in the said district, the education directorate led by Faustina N . Forson ( Ms ) is illegally charging Gh¢ 75.00 from each teacher which was not stated in an earlier letter dated on 7th February, 2024 with reference number GES/ASS/2022/03 but instructing headteachers to take the said amount from each teacher for a day’s NTC workshop at various centers.
Teachers are complaining bitterly about this attitude of their director who organized same NTC workshop last year and awarded 2 marks at a fee of Gh¢75.00 to each teacher.
According to them even those on their way to retirement and those without NTC numbers are also forced to pay the said amount. According to them, they are not been fairly treated but it looks like the directorate is interested with the money.
Headteachers and teachers are being used as a scapegoat anytime they tried to express their opinions about her decisions under her leadership.
“We are therefore appealing to our unions, that is; GNAT, NAGRAT, CCT and others to investigate this and then call her to other” according to aggrieved teachers.
