The Greater Accra Regional Police Command is urging Ghanaians to remain calm and respect the law as the general election approaches.
The police emphasized their commitment to maintaining peace, stressing that arrests will only be made if necessary.
At a meeting with NPP and NDC executives in the Ayawaso East and North Constituencies, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Arhin Kwasi Annor, encouraged political leaders to promote responsible behavior among their supporters.
He noted that peaceful elections benefit the entire nation, not just political parties.
“Let’s continue to comport ourselves. We live in a country where there are laws and regulations and it behooves everybody who lives in the country, to redirect the laws of the country. If you respect the laws of the country, you will not have any problems with any police officer.”
“But then, if you decide to do otherwise, that is where the problem will come. And we sitting here, nobody takes delight in punishing people.”
“Nobody can just arrest you when you have not committed any offence. So please, let us comport ourselves. Let’s respect the laws of the country. Let’s act within the confines of the laws of the country.”
