Affected residents of the Akosombo Dam spillage a year ago are complaining bitterly about the neglect by the Central government.
Despite receiving some relief items from the MP for the area, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, affected residents are questioning why they were left out of the many interventions by government to other victims of the Volta region.
Taking a look the effect of the spillage a year ago, Hon Bismark Asante, Amangoase Assembly member and Sompahene of Akwamu, speaking to Kwamina Sam Biney on BRYT Adekyee Mu Nsem morning ton Bryt fm narrated most victims are yet to overcome the hardship they are going through.
He complained most fishermen lost their fishing cages and fingerlings whilst farmers also lost their farm produce.
The Assembly Member revealed that most fishermen are still in the house without work because they cannot afford to buy another fishing cages to start up again.
“In fact victims of the dam spillage in Asuogyaman were left out as far as central government intervention was concerned. Our friends from north Tongu and other areas benefited, leaving those in Asuogyaman to their fate” the Sompahene stressed.
He commended the incumbent MP for his interventions even though some victims are still yet to get the support they need.
He used the opportunity to appeal to the Central government, the MP, NGOs and other corporate bodies to come on board and help alleviate victims of the year old incident.
