The Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) has started constructing a security entrance school gate and renovating the dilapidated kitchen facility for the Akropong School for the Blind in the Eastern region.
The project includes the construction of a security gate, re-roofing and floor and walls facelift, among other things on the old facility is expected to be completed within six months.
Speaking to the Press, the Assistant Manager in charge of Community Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility at GNGC, Edomgbole Nwiah Anyimah, assured of GNGC’s total commitment to all projects it embarks on.
He said that the move is to aid safety and security for both students and teachers.
At the sod-cutting ceremony, the Headmistress of the school, Madam Veronica Dery, pointed out that the lack of a secure security gate was exposing the school to serious security threats as strangers intruded the school at odd hours.
Madam Veronica expressed her gratitude to GNGC for their intervention and also called on other institutions to come to their aid.
