The Akuapem – Apirede Traditional Council in the Eastern region has exposed an attempt by unauthorized individuals using the name of the traditional council to solicit funds.
A flyer on social media on an event dubbed “GIG Odwira 2021 Tour Fest” is asking the public to send mobile money in support of the event to be held at Apirede.
But according to the Apirede Traditional council, the event and fundraising have not been sanctioned by the traditional Council.
The traditional council has therefore summoned the event organizer to appear before it.
“Our attention has been drawn to the circulation of this flier requesting people to send money to a mobile money number. We wish to state emphatically that the Apiredeman Council has no knowledge of this and has not given authorization to anyone on such a matter. The gentleman behind this is warned to desist from this act, return all monies taken and report himself to the Council by Sunday, 20th December 2020. Failure on his part to heed to this would leave us with no other option but call for his arrest”. The traditional council said in a statement.
