As part of an outreach program to support the less privileged in society, the Young People’s Guild (YPG) under the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has supported inmates at Nsawam Prisons in the Eastern region.
The visitation was to motivate and support inmates with learning materials and essentials at the Nsawam Prisons. The items were solely focused on improving the living standard of the inmates in the custody.
The YPG crew had the opportunity to encounter with the prisoners, share words of encouragement as part of their journey to the prisons.

Superintendent of the Akuapem Presbytery YPG, Ampofo Twum Darkwah, disclosed that the donation aims to improve academic excellence and better living at the prison.
Mr. Twum Darkwah reiterated YPG’s commitment to donating, supporting, improving the conditions of inmates and the needy in the country. He urged the prisoners to learn hard to attain a higher life.
In an interview with Nhyiraba Solomon Nartey of Bryt FM after the donation, Mr. Twum Darkwah indicated YPG remains focused on joining the collaborative effort by the government to reduce hardship and create harmonious living among Ghanaians.
He cautioned the inmates to take good advantage of the rehabilitation measures by the Ghana Prisons Service to change their behavior and make a positive contribution to their society.
Mr. Twum Darkwah took the opportunity to caution Ghanaians who have the liberty to desist from criminal rated activities. He appealed to the public to leave a Christ-like character to avoid imprisonment.
On behalf of the Regional Commander of the Nsawam Medium Security Prison, DSP Bosompem Bryan, who doubles as a monitor at Nsawam Prisons, commended the entire YPG group for supporting the prisoners with the learning materials.

DSP Bosompem Bryan pleaded for more alms from the YPG, donors, philanthropists, non-governmental organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to join hands with the government to help the lives of the inmates.
The items donated by the Akuapem Presbytery YPG as part of their visitation includes soft drinks, bottle and sachet water, mathematical sets, exercise and note books, pens, pencils, markers and many learning materials.
