Eric Apeadu Yeboah, a former aide to Member of Parliament Osei Bonsu Amoah, clinched victory in the Akuapem South NPP primary, securing 267 votes representing 49.3%.
His closest rival, Frank Aidoo, the Municipal Chief Executive, surprisingly garnered 69 votes.
Other contenders, Kwame Ofori Gyawu and Samuel Annor Mensah, secured 152 and 54 votes, respectively in the primary held Saturday March 2, 2024 at Aburi.
The Parliamentary candidate elect Eric Apeadu Yeboah dedicated his win to Hon. OB Amoah for his immense support and pledging unity within the party.
Hon. OB Amoah urged party members to support Yeboah, emphasizing continuity and the party’s success in the upcoming elections.
This victory follows the postponement of the primary, initially scheduled for January 25, 2024, due to petitions and recommendations after OB Amoah withdrawn from the contest.
Frank Aidoo, cleared by the National Executives Committee on February 19, was cleared to contest.
The Primary was supervised by the Electoral Commission with support from Evans Nimako, Director of Research and Election at NPP headquarters, Tony Agyei, Eastern Regional Secretary and other party officials.
