Former President John Dramani Mahama has stated emphatically that President Akufo-Addo and the vice president, Dr. Bawumia have destroyed the country as he believes that the current government has changed the economy from good to worse.
As part of his #BuildingGhanaTour, the former president made this declaration on November 22, 2023, during a durbar with Zongo chiefs at Goaso.
The former president said that while successive administrations have carried on the good work of their predecessors since the days of former President Rawlings, this has not been the case with the current administration.
“Things have become more diffult than it was before. Bad governance has led the country to where it is today. Things are not going on well, and we have been swallowed by debt.”
The former president disclosed that the cost of the Hajj journey was GHC15,000 under his administration, but it is now GHC75,000, which keeps many Muslims from taking the trip.
When he is elected into office, he promised to ensure that the COS is lowered to allow many Muslims to travel for the Hajj.
The outgoing president counseled people to vote while considering their quality of life.
In an effort to connect with Ghanaians, John Dramani Mahama launched the “Building Ghana Tour” in November.
The goals of the tour are to build relationships with supporters, inspire hope, and keep the commitments made to NDC branch leaders.
Mahama uses the journey as an opportunity to connect and engage with Ghanaians from all backgrounds as well as NDC members and sympathizers.
The former president will travel to each of the 16 regions of the nation, stopping in significant towns, cities, and villages along the way. He will interact with the local populace and solicit their opinions, concerns, and goals for a successful Ghana.
Town hall meetings, outreach initiatives for the community, accepting invites from organizations, communities, and chiefs, and in-depth discussions with a range of stakeholders are all part of the tour.
