President Nana Akufo-Addo has increased the number of Ministers and Deputies from Parliament to 69% in his second term in office, against 53% in 2017.
According to statistics available to the media, 34 of the presidential appointees who are Deputy Ministers are serving currently as Members of Parliament while 23 Ministers are also from parliament, out of the total number of 86 appointees for the second term in office.
Among them are Dominic Nitiwul – Defence, Ambrose Dery – Interior, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu – Parliamentary Affairs, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful – Communications and Digitalization, Kwaku Agyemang Manu – Health, Kwasi Amoako-Atta – Roads and Highways, Cecilia Abena Dapaah – Sanitation and Water Resources, Ignatius Baffuor Awuah – Employment and Labour Relations and Kojo Oppong Nkrumah – Information.
The MP for Dome Kwabenya and former Minister of State responsible for Procurement, Sarah Adwoa Safo, now heads the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection; the former Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh now heads the Energy Ministry and the former Special Initiatives Minister, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, MP now heads the Fisheries Ministry.
The Deputy Chief of Staff and Member of Parliament for Bantama in the Ashanti Region, Francis Asenso Boakye, is the Minister for Works and Housing and Member of Parliament for Tano North in the Ahafo Region and former deputy minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Freda Prempeh, as the Minister of State-Designate for Works and Housing.
Joseph Cudjoe, MP for Effia Constituency in the Western region and the former Deputy Minister for Energy is now the Minister of Public Enterprises and former deputy chief of staff at the Presidency, Mr. Samuel Abdulai Jinapor goes to the Lands and Natural Resources ministry while Former Deputy Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has been nominated to head that Ministry.
Madam Freda Prempeh, Tano North legislator, has been nominated Minister of State for Works and Housing.
Henry Quartey, MP for Ayawaso Central and former Deputy National security minister has been named as the Greater Accra regional minister and Mr. Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah also stays as the Western regional minister.
Some of the Deputy Ministers are; Abena Osei-Asare, John Ampontuah Kumah has been nominated for the Finance ministry, whilst the trio of Nana Dokua Asiamah Adjei, Micheal Okyere Baafi, and Herbert Krapa go to the Trade and Industry ministry.
Mohammed Amin Adam, William Owuraku Aidoo, and Andrew Egyapa Mercer, all go to the Energy Ministry. Messers Osei Bonsu Amoah, Augustine Collins Ntim, and Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah have been nominated as deputy ministers of Local Government and Rural Development.
Thomas Mbomba and Kwaku Apratwum-Sarpong have been designated for the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration ministry, whilst Mr. Yaw Frimpong Addo and Mohammed Hardi Tufereu go to the Ministry for Food and Agriculture. Madam Gifty Twum-Ampofo and Mr. John Ntim Fordjuor have been nominated for the Education Ministry.
The President has also nominated the duo of Mahama Asei Seini and Tina Gifty Mensah for the Health Ministry and penciled Messrs. Benito Owusu Bio and George Mireku Duker for the Lands and Natural Resources Ministry.
Madam Mavis Nkansah-Boadu and Stephen Pambin Jalulah have been nominated for Roads and Highways, whilst Hassan Tampuli and Frederick Obeng Adom go to the Transport Ministry.
Mr. Kofi Amankwah-Manu goes to the Defence Ministry, and Naana Eyiah Quansah has been nominated for the Interior Ministry.
The other nominees are Ama Pomaa Boateng, Communications and Digitalization; Abdulai Abanga, Works, and Housing; Moses Anim, Fisheries and Aquaculture Development; Kwaku Asante Boateng, Railway Development; and Amidu Issahaku Chinnia, Sanitation, and Water Resources.
The rest are Lariba Zuweira Abudu, Gender, Children and Social Protection; Bright Wireku-Brobbey, Employment and Labour Relations; and Evans Opoku Bobie, Youth and Sport.
