In order to get their fair share of the national cake, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called for calm in Okuapeman over the chieftaincy dispute that has characterized the traditional area recently.
As part of his visit to the Eastern region, the President paid a courtesy call on Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo Ababio III, where he expressed worry at the current situation as the Okuapemhene is yet to be gazetted.
President Akufo-Addo urged the people of Okuapeman to stay united and forge ahead in peace to safeguard the development they need from the Central government.
He made emphasis on what transpired at Yendi and Ga traditional areas respectively, where peace has reigned after years of battling with chieftaincy issues, and advise Okuapeman to follow suit.
“I have one worry that I want to talk about. Oseadeeyo spoke about having enough developmental projects in Okuapeman but there can’t be development when there is no peace. I am happy Yendi and Ga traditional areas have finally resolved their Chieftaincy issues under my government and I hope by next year by this time, Okuapeman would have also resolved all issues to get the needed development deserves” President Akufo-Addo stated.
However, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo Ababio III was grateful for the massive development initiated by the Akufo-Addo led government with the support of his abled Members of Parliament from the Akwapim enclave.Source: Mybrytfmonline/Kwabena Nyarko Abronoma
