Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on Muslims to take education seriously by making sure their children are given the necessary support to be educated.
According to the first gentleman of the country, education is the key to the alleviation of poverty from Muslim communities, which has been a major setback to the development of the people.
Speaking at a live visual telecast of the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration on Sunday, 24th May 2020, President Akufo-Addo admonished Muslims to take advantage of the government’s educational policies such as the Free SHS to ensure their children are given the needed education to help better their lives in the coming years.
The President also commended the Muslim communities for going by the protocols put down by health professionals in ensuring the curtail of the spread of the deadly virus.
He also, emphasized that consultations are currently ongoing as to how to ease the pending restrictions to ensure life is brought back to its normalcy.
However, the spokesperson for the Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Anas, on his part commended President Akufo-Addo and health advisors for protocols initiated to help curb the spread of the virus.
He added, the Muslim community led by the Chief Imam, Sheik Usman Nuhu Sharubutu has made a donation of Ghc130,00.00 to the COVID-19 Trust Fund to help cushion the government’s effort.
Present at the ceremony were the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, 2nd Lady, Samira Bawumia, Minister of Inner City, and Zongo Development, Dr. Mustapha Hamid, and many others.
