Michael Omari Wadie, the former national vice chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has acknowledged the important contributions made to Ghana’s development by former President Nana Akufo-Addo. However, he also acknowledges that the party’s difficulties in the most recent election were caused by voter apathy and economic difficulties.
Omari Wadie commended Akufo-Addo’s leadership in an interview with Lily Mohammed on GHOne TV, saying: “Akufo-Addo did a lot for Ghana, nobody can compare, compete, or deny that.”
But he also made the point that challenges are unavoidable regardless of how well a leader performs.
“As human beings, no matter how hard you fight for people, you will definitely encounter some challenges,” he noted.
Omari Wadie went on to say that once a government has been in power for a long, political tiredness frequently sets in, making it challenging to keep the support of the public.
“After staying in power for some time, Ghanaians will want you out no matter how good you are,” he added.
