The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President John Dramani Mahama has said Nana Akufo-Addo does not have an automatic right to a second term so he should return to the party that brings him to progress back into power.
Speaking at a rally at Aboabo in the Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region on Sunday, Mr. John Mahama said the NPP government under the current President takes “Ashanti votes for granted “.
The NDC leader said the actions of doling out freebies to voters in the region ahead of the elections were an indictment on the intellects of the voters and further advised them to accept the gifts but exhibit their wrath against such actions on December 7.
Recently, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says the Volta Region has seen very little in terms of development over the years, despite voting massively for the National Democratic Congress in successive elections.
According to President Akufo-Addo, “I am sure that all of you have seen that today, the umbrella has got nothing but holes in it. It can no longer act as an umbrella, it got holes in it. When it rains and you put it up, the water will be upon you because it’s no longer working as an umbrella.”
He continued, “The umbrella has dominated the politics of the Volta Region in the Fourth Republic, but what are the results? What is the progress that the Volta Region has seen under the umbrella? Zero! Zero! Zero! Zero!”
The President made this known on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at the launch of the 2020 campaign of the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for Hohoe, John-Peter Amewu, at the RC Park in Hohoe, Volta Region.
