The President Nana Akufo-Addo has donated his three months’ salary to a newly established COVID-19 fund.
He subsequently appealed to all individuals and religious bodies to donate their widow’s mite into the fund to help fight the Coronavirus pandemic.
He made this statement during his address to the nation whereby he invoked the executive powers vested in him.
During the address, he imposed two weeks locked down to residents of Accra, Tema and Kumasi as part of measures and advise by the World Health Organization to curb the spread of the pandemic.
The president, while admitting the economic consequences said it has also become necessary to protect lives hence the formation of the fund.
