Ghanaians have described the Akufo-Addo led Government as insensitive in dealing with challenges of its citizens in terms of their health needs.
Presenting 2020 budget to Ghana’s Parliament on Wednesday, the Finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta stated, Government is procuring 307 ambulances for the various districts and constituencies, with 200 already in the country.
The government also indicated that it is waiting for the arrival of the rest to distribute them altogether early next year.
But reacting to the statement, the public has questioned the essence of keeping the ambulances, as people continue to lose their lives due to lack of enough ambulances across the country.
They have, however, described it as unfortunate and inhumane on the part of Government for keeping the 200 ambulances instead of quickly distributing them to areas where their services are needed.
“What is the sense of keeping the vehicles while Ghanaians continue to die due to no access to ambulances. This is not right at all” some aggrieved interviewees told Bryt FM news.
The minority in Parliament has also expressed shock at the new development and challenged Government as a matter of urgency, to distribute the ambulances for the health care needs of the ordinary Ghanaian.
However, the Member of Parliament for Adentan and Communication Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buabeng Asamoah has 4rubbished the minority’s request asking if there will be no death incident if the ambulances are distributed now.
Ghana, over the years, has lost most of its human resource capital as a result of inadequate ambulances especially during road accidents with not much done over the years.
