The President of the Republic, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has received a Letter of Credence from the High Commissioner designate of Rwanda, H.E. Rosemary Mbabazi, at a brief ceremony which took place at the Presidency on Thursday 14th November, 2023.
H.E. Mbabazi, in her remarks recalled and commended the Ghanaian contingent that stood with Rwanda during the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994, and this has since established a strong connection between the peoples of Ghana and Rwanda.
She expressed appreciation to the Government of Ghana for supporting and cooperating with Rwanda through signed MoUs and agreements in the areas of trade and investment, and tourism. She commended H.E. Akufo-Addo for playing an active role in ensuring intra-African trade through the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework and also for his commitment to the production of vaccine following the pandemic which is a big boost for Africa.
On his part, H.E. Akufo-Addo, welcomed and congratulated H.E. Mbabazi on her appointment. He expressed his readiness to further deepen the already existing strong bond of friendship Ghana enjoys with Rwanda in areas of mutual interest.
H.E. Akufo-Addo indicated that he was delighted Rwanda was committed to the execution of the Africa Continental Free trade Area (AfCFTA)framework and assured the High Commissioner that the Government of Ghana is ready to cooperate with her to make her tour of duty a success.
