President Akufo-Addo on Sunday, April 5, 2020, lavished praises on Ghanaians for respecting and abiding by the directives he gave some weeks ago but poured his utmost gratitude to all health workers in the country for putting their lives on the line as they fight against the deadly coronavirus disease.
According to the president, these health workers are the real heroes and heroines of this generation and will forever be remembered as they stand frontline and also risking their lives as they help combat the deadly disease by attending to patients who are infected with the virus.
“Let me thank in particular all our frontline actors who continue to put their lives on the line to help ensure that we defeat the virus. To our health workers, I say Ayekoo for the continuous sacrifice you are making in caring for those infected with the virus and in caring for the sick in general. You are the heroes and heroines of our generation and government will do all in its power to provide the relevant tools”. He said.
In furtherance, President Akufo-Addo used the medium to thank residents of the locked-down areas who are complying with his stay at home directive. He also pleaded with recalcitrant who are flouting his orders to turn a new leave as his government is trying their best to embattle the pandemic.
“Nine days ago, I came to your homes and requested you to make greater sacrifices to save lives and to protect our motherland. I announced the imposition of strict restrictions to movements and asked the residents of the Greater Accra Metropolitan area, and Kasoa and the Greater Kumasi Metropolitan area and its contiguous districts to stay at home for two weeks to allow us to stave off this pandemic. As a result, residents of these two areas had to make significant adjustments to our way of life, with the ultimate goal being to protect permanently our exercise on this land”.
For people to stay home, the president assured Ghanaians that, his government will absorb water bills of all Ghanaians for the next three months (April, May and June).
