One of the Personal Bodyguards of Ghana’s President, Akufo-Addo, Jibril Issah has cut sod for the construction of a Community Library and Walling of Asamankese and Asuokaw cemeteries in Lower West Akyem Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The GHS150,000 Library Project is funded by the personal bodyguard of the President with support by one Masahudu Mohammed also a native is expected to be completed within six months.
Giving the rationale behind the projects, Jibril Issah who in some months ago donated a hearse to the Zongo community explained that, the Library is to enhance quality education among students to complement Free Senior High School Policy.
Speaking on the walling of the cemeteries he said it would help to curb grave looting incidents.
“We will all earn up in the cemetery one day and that, if things are going bad we need to fix it. We should all help the community. I’m doing this not because I have got money but I decided to give back to society. The president, Nana-Addo has thought us to unite ourselves and desists from discrimination, there shouldn’t be division among us” he said.
He called on Ghanaians to make peace as the country heads towards the December 7, 2020, general elections.
Buhari Labaran Armata, contractor of the project said walling of the cemeteries would be done in two faces due to the large size of the project.
According to him, the first phase will have to do with the entire boundary that shares the Muslim part with the Christian part been the second phase.
He said, there will be a parking space at the cemetery where the hearse will park before the body goes to the grave.
The contractors stated that phase one of the project is expected to be done within the next twelve months then the second phase continues consecutively.
The Asamankese Zongo Chief, Sarliki Balla commended Jibril Issah for his relentless commitment to supporting develops Asamankese.
