An aide to Okyenhene Edward Nana Asiedu-Bekoe says the victory of President Akufo-Addo is a birthday present to Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin who turns 70 years today December 10, 2020.
Speaking to Journalists Wednesday evening during a jamboree on the streets of Kyebi hometown of the President by hundreds of residents following the declaration of President Akufo-Addo as winner of the December 7 Presidential election, Nana Asiedu Bekoe who is a formal Assembly Member said, the entire traditional council is happy that their Kinsman has emerged the victor.
In a keenly contested election, the Chairperson of the EC Wednesday evening announced that NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo polled 6,730,413 votes, representing 51.59% while the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama placed second, garnering 6,214,889 which represent 47.36% of the total ballots cast.
The figures according to the EC exclude results from the Techiman South constituency.
Total valid votes cast, according to the Electoral Commission, was 13,434,574 representing 79% of total registered voters.
Hundreds of supporters of the NPP in Kyebi took to the streets to jubilate to express their excitement over the victory of their royal.
They say, the celebration will continue unabated through to Christmas and New Year season.
