As the new year begins, Akwamumanhene Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, had a fruitful Akwasidae celebration with his chiefs and people of Akwamuman, and said, unlike the 1867 treaty that made the Akwamumanhene laid down his guns, Akwamu’s are on war with Education. He stressed that for every nation to progress, education must be put first.
He outlined the theme for the year, ‘YEAR OF DEVELOPMENT AND UNITY’, AKWAMU TO THE WORLD.
This, he said, several activities including a Youth Summit, for the budding and energetic youth of Akwamu to brainstorm and find new ways of leading the new Akwamu
The chiefs were also not left out as the Odeneho summit is planned to integrate and have new dimensions of leadership.
Odeneho urged families to choose relevant and dignified personalities to ascend vacant stools. He said chiefs must NOT be seen with the scornful and should at all times be of good behaviours. On the need to preserve and leave a legacy for the next generation, he said there will be no room for misappropriation of stool funds by any chief and violations of their oath of office.
Akwamumanhene continued in his address by saying education is key to preserving the traditions of the past, present, and future. He admonished the chiefs to honour their people and subjects and impress them to make education a hallmark.
Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, again said Akwamu should again have an interest in science subjects, especially telecom engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and also accounting, management, and other relevant courses, so they can take advantage of employment opportunities in industries around the kingdom as they pursue the educational ladder.
The land of Akwamu is endowed very much, and so keeping the old glory of Akwamu, we should preserve natural habitats, including our forests and animal sanctuaries. As in the built trait of an Akwamu, Akwamus are dedicated as such we must uphold it sacredly. In a history that is seen between the Akwamus, Asantes, and other Akan states.
Again, praised the uniqueness of Akwamus ingenuity as same was exhibited by Nana Basour(Ansah Sasraku III) to have the locks of the Osu Christianburg Castle changed but kept the original keys as a trophy and stool regalia in Akwamu.
He announced dates for the next Traditional Council meetings and everyone left the gathering wowed by Omanhene, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III’s dedication to the education and development of Akwamuman.
