President Akufo-Addo has assured incumbent Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Ama Sey of an appointment in his next government should he win the December 7th general elections.
The MP who lost the party’s parliamentary primaries is alleged to have the intention of contesting the seat as an independent candidate because she is not happy with the outcome of the party’s primaries.
Addressing party supporters and people of Akwatia as part of his 3-days tour to the Eastern region, President Akufo-Addo indicated that, the MP has been recognized for her hard work to the party over since assumption into office over 3 years ago and that she deserves appreciation for her commitment.
He added the NPP does not support serve individuals but rather the party, hence the need to vote for the parliamentary candidate, Enerst Kumi to support his government’s agenda.
President Akufo-Addo however, urged Mrs. Ama Sey not to consider contesting as an independent candidate but rather remain with the party for her reward in the future.
The Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo had earlier commended the MP for her courage in defeating NDC MP, Baba Jamal in the 2016 elections and stressed the need to rescind any decision to go independent.
“Ama Sey and his husband are my close friends. She comes to me any time of need and I do appreciate her courage to unseat Lawyer Baba Jamal. I have spoken to her when I heard she was planning to go independent and she indicated to me that she has no such dream, so let us all come together and vote for Enerst Kumi” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Oseawuo chief, Daasebre Asumadu Nyarko Appiah II on behalf of the traditional council sang a heap of praises on President Akufo-Addo and the NPP government for the many social intervention programs laid down to help improve the living standards of Ghanaians.
He mentioned the introduction of the Free SHS policy, planting for food and jobs, 1D1F, one ambulance per constituency, among many others currently rolled out.
He, however, pledged the people of Akwatia would continue to rally behind the NPP as it has been since time immemorial to see to the success of the party in the December 7 general elections.
Checks by the reporter revealed the MP was not present at the durbar to throw her support and allegiance to the President, raising an eyebrow on whether she has accepted to rescind her alleged decision or otherwise.
