Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Awatey has commended residents for their peaceful participation in the ongoing elections and assured them of maximum security throughout the process.
Speaking during a tour of polling stations—her 12th stop of the morning—she emphasized that the region remains safe under the watch of security agencies. “If you cast your eyes around, you will see the number of security personnel across Ejegbo and other areas. I assure the people that the place is safe,” she said.
Hon. Awatey encouraged voters to turn out in greater numbers, noting that although many had gone to work earlier in the day, polling stations were already recording between 30 and 35 votes each. “The police are here to protect everyone, and even after the election, the place will remain safe,” she added.
The Minister further urged residents not to be deterred but to exercise their civic responsibility, expressing optimism that the election will remain peaceful.
