The Akyem Abuakwa traditional Council has under the directives of Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, performed traditional rites to officially destooled Baffour Asiedu Bekoe as the Akwansrahene of the Traditional Council.
The destoolment ceremony took place at the Ofori Panin Fie in Kyebi, Eastern Region.

A sheep was slaughtered and libation poured to signify the removal of Baffour Asiedu Bekoe from his position which he was honored with by the traditional authorities about 4 years ago.
The Akwansrahene who was in charge of the Okyeman Land Protection Taskforce was destooled over stated misconduct and uncustomary behavior despite multiple warnings from his elders.
The ritual, led by Osabarima Marfo Okwabrane, the Abontendomhene of Kyebi, was conducted to cleanse the community of the chief’s alleged misconduct.
According to Osabarima Marfo Okwabrane, the former Akwansrahene’s actions had undermined the values and responsibilities of his role, prompting the Okyenhene to take decisive action.

Meanwhile, Baffour Asiedu Bekoe has contested the circumstances of his removal, stating that he had already resigned from his position four days prior to the destoolment ceremony.
Speaking to the media, he alleged that internal sabotage by fellow chiefs led to his decision to step down.
Bekoe claims he formally submitted his resignation by presenting schnapps to Osabarima Marfo Okwabrane at his palace, therefore the destoolment is in bad faith.
