The Queen Mother of the Akyem Abuakwa Council of Zongo Chiefs in the Eastern Region, Hajia Maurijaanatu Muhammed, has appealed to Ghanaians to support orphans who, through no fault of their own, have been left without parents.
She emphasized that these children often find themselves in orphanages, disconnect from their biological families, and rely on caregivers.
In a quest to provide the needs of orphans in Akyem Abuakwa and the Eastern Region at large, the Queen Mother is appealing for financial support to care for orphans.
The Queen Mother highlighted the significant financial challenges of running an orphanage and stressed the need for support to make these children feel loved and valued.
Mrs. Maurijaanatu Muhammed encouraged people to feel a sense of responsibility towards orphans, helping to alleviate their loneliness and grief and enabling them to feel part of society.
During a visit to the Jehova Orphanage in Suhum, Hajia Maurijaanatu donated essential items, including food, toiletries, toys, and clothing.
The donations by the Akyem Abuakwa Council of Zongo Chiefs were supported by Matan Arewa, a group in Anyinam Zongo and the Zongo Queen Mother of Anyinam.
She also engaged the children in fun activities, such as eating and dancing competitions.
Mrs. Muhammed emphasized the importance of showing love and care to the less privileged, particularly orphans.
She pledged her continued support to the orphanage, stating that her donation was motivated by a humane desire to give back to society and assist the vulnerable.

In line with her commitment to enhancing education and children’s welfare, recently, Mrs. Maurijaanatu Muhammed generously provided 400 packs of cooked food for students and 50 packs for teachers and staff members at Akyem Osino Islamic basic school.
