A truck distributing flour to some Senior High Schools in Eastern Region has crashed on a road from St. Stephen’s Senior High Technical School (STEPSS) in the Akyem Asiakwa in Abuakwa South Municipality.
The accident occurred Tuesday when the truck returning from the school toppled and crashed after a portion of a wooden bridge collapsed during an attempt to cross.
The vehicle which was carrying bags of flour reportedly somersaulted two times.
The driver and other occupants of the vehicle however did not sustain any serious injury.
The Headmaster of the School Mr. Samuel Anarfi Asante, said, the condition of the deplorable bridge had deteriorated hence become weak however several letters to the Abuakwa South municipal assembly and other state institutions responsible for the construction of culvert have not yielded positive results exposing motorists to danger.
The flour was salvaged by the students as the arrangement was being made to get another truck to load the bags of the flour to the beneficiary schools.
