The Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago on Agriculture Dr. John Allenye did not tested positive for COVID-19 on his returned to his homeland country after visiting Ghana last month (March).
There was anxiety among the staff of Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) at Akyem Tafo in the Eastern Region after reports were riffed that Dr. John Allenye, who visited CRIG March 13, 2020, was tested positive for COVID-19 after his return to Trinidad and Tobago.
However, information that Dr. Allenye tested Positive for COVID-19 has turned out to be a palpable falsehood.
According to further investigations done by Mybrytfmonline.com indicates that Dr. John Allenye, returned to Trinidad on March 17, 2020, and “as required by Government regulations for travelers passing through the London airport, considered a COVID-19 hot spot need self-quarantined at home for 14-days. He has since completed that session with absolutely NO symptoms of COVID-19. Anxiously to return to work on Friday, March 3, 2020 and will discuss meeting at CRIG with the corresponding unit at the University of the West Indies.
Staff of CRIG are therefore, to disregard the fallacious media report on health status of Dr. John Allenye.
Staff of CRIG are to reassure that Dr. John Allenye is healthy and to date have not been infected by the COVID-19 microbe or any related virus as reported.
Apology from Editor:
Based on this rejoinder, mybrytfmonline.com wish to retract and unreservedly apologize to Dr. John Allenye, Management of CRIG and Government of Ghana for any harm caused by our April 2, 2020 publication with the Headline “Fear grips CRIG Staff after a foreign Visitor tested Positive for COVID-19.”
We wish to state that the publication was not borne out of any malice. It was rather information turned to be disinformation by sources which we couldn’t verify from Dr. John Allenya due to the communication barrier in terms of unavailability of his contact and email address.
