The Police in Akyem Tafo District Command in Eastern Region have arrested a 62-year-old Ex-Fire service officer Kate Eva Boateng for duping many people in Akyem Tafo and its environs under the pretext of recruiting them into the security agencies.
She is said to have collected about Ghc56,500.000 from her victims.
On November 11, 2021, at about 14:50 hours, an extract of occurrence was brought to the Kukurantumi Police station by Detective Sargent Wallace Arhin and General Sargent Eric Bonsu all of Nkawkaw Divisional CID accompanied with suspect Kate Eva Boateng and reported that the suspect collected an amount of Gh¢27,000.00 from complainant Mary Konama Antwi and promised that she would help her three children be recruited into the Ghana Armed Forces but has since failed to fulfill her promise.
Meanwhile, the suspect was re-arrested and detained in Police custody.
An hour later same day, five of her victims namely Dora Ofosua, 36, Susana Obuobi, 53, Mock Sackey, 27, Addo Emmanuel, 27, and Richard Hodzi 62 all from New Tafo Akim came to the Kukurantumi charge office and reported that, about a year ago, suspect Kate Eva Boateng who is in Police custody for a similar offense collected an amount of Gh¢10,000.00, Ghc 5,000.00, Ghc 6,000.00, Ghc 3,500.00 and Ghc 5,000.00 from them respectively under the pretext of helping them and their children to be recruited into the Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana Immigration Service but absconded.
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh said the Suspect has been detained to assist the investigation.
He said she will be put before court on Monday.
