Management of W.B.M Zion Senior High School (AMEZSS) in Akyem Old Tafo in Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region has instituted a fact-finding committee to investigate the reported incident of flogging of two students by the Senior Housemaster of the school.
The committee headed by the Assistant Headmaster is expected to present its report to management for further action.
The two students were lashed mercilessly by a Senior House Master identified as Mr. Dagar resulting in severe injuries of one of the students, Patrick Frimpong, a form two General Arts student.
The incident occurred on Thursday, October 29, 2020, around 10:00pm but the video about the incident leaked on Saturday sparking anger and attracting widespread condemnation.
According to one of the victims, the housemaster accused them of mocking him.
“We laughing over some fond memories as boys and cracking jokes but all of a sudden the house master who was passing by said we were laughing at him. Then he called us started lashing the two of us by heart all over our bodies” the victims narrated.
After the act, the housemaster reportedly sacked the two students from the boarding house on a fateful night.
Relatives of the students on Monday stormed the school to demand answers from the school authorities. They are threatening to report the incident to the Police for the arrest of the teacher.
The incident has also sparked anger among the student’s body some of whom are threatening to cause commotion in the school to express their discontent since this is not the first time such an incident is happening.
The students say, due to the conduct of the housemaster, many male students in the boarding house have left to rent rooms in town.
Some old students are incensed over the incident therefore calling for a full-scale investigation.
“WBM Zion Sec. School (AMEZSS) Snr. Housemaster, why must you do this to your student. No Money No Love, pls take this matter up. This is the second time in the same year a teacher from my school is doing this”. The old student posted on his Facebook timeline.
