Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a prominent and founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has characterized his party’s treatment of Alan Kyerematen, the former minister of trade and industry, as a “stab in the back.”
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe responded to Alan’s decision to drop out of the running for NPP flagbearer by saying that the NPP has failed Alan, not the candidate.
He said that Alan Kyerematen is the most competent applicant for the role, in his opinion.
“The sad thing is that Alan, to me, has been stabbed in the back by the NPP, and that is very sad. Because when I look at those who want to be president at the moment, he’s the only one who stands tall at the moment. He’s the only one I can say has got democratic credentials,” he said in an interview with TV3 NewDay.
He said that the former minister would receive a lot of support if he decides to run as an independent.
“He’s the only one I strongly believe a lot of people will want to try, if he intends to run as an independent candidate,” he continued.
The number of candidates who will compete in the November 4, 2023, delegates convention to choose a flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as it gears up for the general elections of 2024 has increased from three to four as a result of Alan Kyerematen’s withdrawal from the race.
