Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the MP for Klottey Korle, and her family have received an apology from Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin for calling her the “daughter of a murderer” during a recent session.
He also apologized to the Volta Region’s Anlo Traditional Council, which had voiced their indignation over the incident and called for immediate action.
“In light of this incident, I extend my deepest apologies to Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, former First Lady and widow of our late industrious President, the family, the chiefs, and all the good people of Anlo Dukor and Anlo land, It is a sad situation when one serving their country must endure such indignity.”” Speaker Bagbin stated on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday.
The apology comes after an unnamed MP was overheard saying something disrespectful during a parliamentary session on February 4, 2025.
