Senior New Patriotic Party (NPP) member Alhaji Yusif Ahmed Fofana has expressed deep disappointment over recent remarks made by former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, cautioning her to exercise restraint and show respect for the party that has, in his words, “benefited her in countless ways.”
Speaking on Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem, Alhaji Fofana questioned Adwoa Safo’s decision to publicly criticize the NPP, suggesting her actions were ungrateful and misguided.
“I don’t understand why she is speaking against the same party that has helped her so much. I will advise her to be quiet,” he stated firmly.
According to Alhaji Fofana, tensions rose when he witnessed Adwoa Safo arrive at the party’s Asylum Down office on Monday, April 7, accompanied by a large crowd, only to find that the much-anticipated disciplinary hearing had not been convened.
“She came with a big crowd to the office, and only one party official was there. I was upset. If she accepts her mistakes and apologizes, I believe the party will forgive her because we are all working hard to bring the NPP back to power,” he added.
The MP’s appearance was in response to a summons issued over comments she made during a recent media interview. However, she was reportedly left disappointed after showing up at the party headquarters to find no formal meeting taking place.
Speaking to the media shortly after the encounter, Ms. Safo questioned the party’s organizational conduct. “I was served a summons letter on Sunday. I honored it and came here, but nothing is happening. If there was a change of plans, why wasn’t I informed? This is not how we handle things in a serious political party,” she said.
As of now, the NPP is yet to release an official communiqué on the rescheduled date for her appearance before the disciplinary committee. Alhaji Fofana reiterated that until then, it would be prudent for Ms. Safo to remain quiet and allow the party structures to work.
The developments have sparked renewed debate over internal party discipline and communication as the NPP gears up for the 2024 election campaign.
