Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni has been elected as the Member of Council of State for the Northern Region, securing 26 out of 32 valid votes cast.
Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni is a distinguished Ghanaian lawyer and politician, having served as Member of Parliament for Kumbungu Constituency for two consecutive terms from 1996 to 2004.
In the 2004 elections, the late Prof. Mills selected him as his running mate, although the NDC lost that election.
He was subsequently appointed as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2009 to 2013 under President John Atta Mills.
