An investigation has begun by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) on the alleged examination malpractice in some Senior High Schools in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Some teachers have been mixed up in the misconduct that has resulted in the student agitation recorded in some areas. The sub-regional examination body tells Citi news.
Divine Worlanyo Agbenyo controller for the WAEC branch in the Ashanti Region said there is the probability that schools involved in the misconduct will have their entire papers canceled when found guilty.
“When we are writing the exams, and we have irregular activities before or after the exams, all these are punishable. Some of these are such that you can have the entire results for that paper canceled. The onus rests on students and parents to ensure that children study hard to merit whatever certificate that they will be getting,” he said.
The West African Senior School Examination Started in Ghana on Monday, August 3, 2020, where final year students in the senior high schools, sat to write the paper.
There have been numerous reports that student is agitated since there are tight security and supervision in the ongoing exams is too strict.
