Kwasi Kwarteng, the PRO for the ministry of Education has emphasized the health of student especially those in senior high Schools is a top priority and therefore cannot watch students to eat unwholesome foods.
“Even though we are not in charge of supply of food for the various schools but it is the responsibility of the buffer stock company who are in charge of food supply to do so”.
“As the ministry, it is our duty of taking care of students in terms paying for the food but we cannot also sir down for students to eat unwholesome foods” the PRO explained.
During an interview on Bryt fm Adekye Mu Nsem with host Kwamina Sam Biney on Friday November 15, 2024 on allegations of unwholesome foods being supplied to some schools, Mr. Kwarteng stressed that “It is a criminal act to supply food which are contaminated to our students in schools. Since they’re our first priority to cater, we can’t watch our students to be in danger because of the food they eat. The necessary thing must be done fast, for those who did that are punished”.
He urged Ghanaians especially the Ghana police service and parents to join hands together and ensure such actions are dealt with.
“We thank God that still now, none of the students has complained of getting any illness”
