According to John Kumah, the deputy minister of finance, an IMF program will assist the nation to overcome its economic problems more quickly.
He stated that the administration is hoping the scheme will help the nation.
We think that from where we are right now, an IMF intervention will help us recover more quickly. We trust it will be advantageous for the nation, ” he told TV3’s Komla Adom on the mid-day news on Friday, July while throwing more light on the instruction given to Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta by the President to commence formal engagements with the IMF, inviting the Fund to support programmes put together by the Government of Ghana.
This comes after the President and Miss Kristalina Georgieva, the IMF Managing Director, spoke on the phone and discussed Ghana’s decision to work with the Fund.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the Ministry of Information on Friday, July 1.
