Incensed supporters of Birim North District Chief Executive nominee are demanding a refund of GHc6,000 bribe allegedly paid to the Assembly members ahead of his confirmation on Monday.
However, the DCE nominee suffered outright rejection by polling only 14 Yes Votes against 24 No votes.
This implies that the only opportunity left for the DCE nominee is for President Akufo Addo to renominate him.
Supporters of the DCE nominee holding schnapps and eggs demanded an immediate refund of monies they took from the DCE nominee else will invoke curses on them.
Meanwhile, the Constituency Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Baffour Bannor Barima Bannor, said he hinted the Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong and some executives of the party to run to the Association of Birim Chiefs to apologize on behalf of the DCE nominee before the confirmation because they passed a vote of no confidence against the renomination of the DCE months ago for being disrespectful and incompetence, but nothing was done about it.
In a related development, the MCE nominee for Birim Central, Victoria Adu, who was rejected last week, has been confirmed on Monday.
As it stands now, 26 out of 33 Municipal and District Chief Executive nominees have been confirmed in the region.
The rest include rejected MCE for New Juaben North Comfort Asante.
