The Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2025 popularly referred to as anti LGBTQ bill has been taken through necessary processes for consideration by Parliament during the Second Meeting of the 9th Parliament which commenced today.
It will be recalled that the 8th Parliament passed the same bill but was not given Presidential assent under the previous government .
Other bills to be considered by the House during this Second meeting are the Property Rights of Spouses bill 2025 and the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana ( Amendments ) bill 2025 .
The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Alban Bagbin made this known in his welcome address when Parliament commenced sitting today after a two-month recess .
The Speaker also said reports of some adhoc committees will also be considered by the House .
These include the report of the Adhoc committee which was set up by the Speaker to investigate the violent incident which characterized the sitting of the Appointments Committee of Parliament on 30th and 31st January 2025 , report of the adhoc committee set up to investigate the Ada Songo Lagoon Salt mining challenges as well as the report of the adhoc committee set up to investigate the unparliamentary comment made by a member of Parliament against Dr Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings MP for Klotey / Korle.
Rt Hon Bagbin expressed disappointment in members of Parliament at both sides of the House ( Minority and Majority Caucuses ) for failing to identify the MP who made that derogatory comment against Dr Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings .
