The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asuogyaman, Samuel Agyekum risk being banned by the Anum Traditional Council over foul comments against the Acting President of the Council.
The DCE is on tape to have called the Acting President of the Traditional council Okogyeaman Nenye Kwasi Anyane a “liar” for complaining that the Assembly donated only one veronica hand washing bucket to the entire area.
The DCE is on tape to have angrily stated that “What the chiefs in Anum and Boso are saying is a complete lie. They cannot tell us how to use Covid-19 monies. Is he the Head of Common Fund or Is he the Head of Local Government Ministry or he the Minister for Local Government. He can’t tell us how to use the money. I am surprised the Chief of Boso is saying that. Where did he get the information? The donation received from Pius Enam Hadzide was given to the Parliamentary candidate Paul Ansah to support his campaign so if he has a problem he should go to Pius.”
Addressing the media Friday the Anum Traditional Council Stated in a resolution read by Isaac Osei Ayensu Secretary to the steering committee of the traditional council that, “the steering committee of Anum Traditional Council registers its Protest against the DCE for Asuogyaman District Hon. Samuel Kwame Agyekum for unsavory comments he made this week on Rite FM when granted an interview to the press and called the Adontenhene and Acting President of the Anum Traditional Council a liar over the presentation of one veronica bucket at his palace to fight Covid-19 pandemic
He added that “the Council has evidence to the effect that, one veronica bucket was presented and not two as alleged by the DCE. The Veronica bucket was received on 6th April 2020 at the Palace of Nana Adontenhene. Going by customs we are cleansing ourselves by slaughtering sheep to send a strong signal to the DCE that he cannot take us for granted as we have not taken his radio comment lightly and would summon him before traditional Council if he doesn’t do the needful”
The Acting President of Anum Traditional Council, Okogyeaman Nenye Kwasi Anyane who steered the Press conference said, Nananom found the comment by DCE very offensive, distasteful and smearing to the stool, therefore, having slaughtered a sheep to pacify the stool, the Traditional Council is demanding from the DCE an apology and accountability on funds and donations released by government and individual for the fight against COVID-19 in the District.
We want the DCE to come and render an apology. We are not against the Office but we are against his actions. Also from henceforth, everything should be shared equally. Asuogyaman District is made up of three paramountcies. So if something is being shared it should be shared equitably but what we have observed is that anything that comes does not reach us here. So we are demanding accountability on Covid-19. How can you give a whole paramount area one veronica bucket?
