The Eastern Regional Chief Imam Alhaji Yusuf Amudani has announced that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Muslims in the region will not gather at their usual Eid prayer grounds.
He, therefore, encouraged Muslims in the region to meet in their local communities to pray to Allah but warned that any Muslim who comes to pray with being in a nose mask would be sacked from the prayer ground.
“As we all know this year. Eid_ul_Adha is going to be marked on Friday 31st July 2020. Due to #COVID19 Eid prayers, won’t be performed at our usual Eid grounds. This year’s Eid will be marked in our various areas. Please let’s all observe the protocols to make this celebration beautifully and smoothly”.
He added “Each and every one is supposed to carry His/Her own prayer mat to the Eid grounds. Also, dress with your Face mask before leaving your homes to the Eid grounds. If you are found at the Eid grounds without your prayer mat or face mask you will be sent home. Prayer time is exactly 8:00am in all areas as discussed with our leaders.”
Eid al-Adha is an Islamic annual festival to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim (also known as Abraham) to follow Allah’s (God’s) command to sacrifice his son. Muslims around the world observe this event to replicate this Faith by Ibrahim by making sacrifices in terms of sharing with the poor and vulnerable.
